Worksite assessments

Our Rehabilitation Consultants assess the critical job demands of a role in the context of the worker and their injury. It also provides an opportunity to comment on environmental layout, pace of work, job rotation and design, and tools and equipment used.

Return-to-work / Suitable Duties Programs

These programs consist of a list of meaningful duties and recommendations that aim to return an injured worker to their usual duties safely through a gradual and supervised process. The aim is to match the worker’s abilities to appropriate & productive tasks, working hours and environment. The programs are developed in conjunction with the worker, employer, treating medical officer, insurer and other involved professionals. 

Case management

We provide independent case management services for employers and insurers to assist in efficient and outcome-focused claims management and the coordination of medical treatment, rehabilitation, return-to-work and claims management.

Independent Reviews

Independent Case reviews are available for all disciplines (occupational therapy, hand & upper limb therapy, physiotherapy and psychology). Prime’s experts provide independent and objective recommendations relating to the individuals needs in relation to rehabilitation, recovery and return to work.

Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) Services 

FCEs are used in the rehabilitation and return to work process as a tool to determine the individual’s physical capacity and limitations. Data gained from the assessment allows the therapist to identify and more accurately predict the duties and duration of professional developed RTW plan. FCEs are generally used in the following situations:

  • Where severe injuries that have left the individual incapacitated for a significant period of time and the insurer requires information on the individual’s physical capacity to work.
  • For employers who have staff that are medically stationary and stable but unable to perform all their duties and/or tasks.
  • For interstate insurers to determine the feasibility of a return to work strategy with long term claimants.

Vocational Services

Most workers will successfully return to work in their pre-injury occupation at the conclusion of their rehabilitation. Prime recognises that for some workers such an outcome may not be possible for a variety of reasons. Prime has created a suite of services designed to assist a client identify their alternative vocational options.

  • Vocational assessments
    Prime’s staff includes experienced vocational psychologists and job placement officers who conduct vocational assessments to identify a client’s realistic employment options. The assessment utilises qualitative and quantitative measures to explore education, work experience, interests, aptitude and transferable skills, as well as relevant labour market information.
  • Vocational counselling
    Our vocational staff offer vocational counselling to individuals and groups to assist them in identifying realistic employment options by considering all relevant individual and labour market factors.
  • Employability assessments
    Using a combination of vocational and functional assessment information we explore employment options that are reasonable and appropriate given the client’s physical (and / or psychological) capabilities and limitations.
  • Job search and placement services
    We offer job search assistance and job placement services to assist clients in developing job-specific résumés, application letters and interview techniques. We also utilise our extensive industry and labour market knowledge, job network and employer contacts and group sessions to maximise the client’s employment prospects.
  • Host employment
    We source appropriate host employment options to assist clients, employers and insurers to ensure that potential employment options are feasible and sustainable and to facilitate the client’s return to paid employment.
  • Labour market analysis
    We conduct detailed labour market analyses using an appropriate combination of Internet, local newspaper, job network / employment agency and local employer resources to ensure a comprehensive and up-to-date analysis.
