Our hand therapists work closely with the leading hand and upper limb surgeons across south-east Queensland. This ensures that our intervention is appropriate, evidence-based and meets best-practice standards.

Hand AND Upper Limb Assessment

The EKCO Hand and Upper Limb Rehabilitation Unit undertake comprehensive assessments utilising a battery of standardised assessment tools. The results of the assessment guide the hand rehabilitation program and / or provide recommendations for ongoing case management.

Management of Acute AND Chronic Upper Limb Injuries & Conditions

Hand therapy intervention includes splinting, oedema management, early wound care, scar management, mobilisation (active & passive) strengthening, desensitisation and graded functional return.

Integrated Return-To-Work Services

The EKCO Hand Team work closely with insurers / case managers, employers and rehabilitation providers in arranging and facilitating a smooth transition back to employment.

The team also offers specialist knowledge and expertise in retraining the injured worker where return to pre-injury employment is not safe or sustainable.
