Hand AND Upper Limb Assessment
The EKCO Hand and Upper Limb Rehabilitation Unit undertake comprehensive assessments utilising a battery of standardised assessment tools. The results of the assessment guide the hand rehabilitation program and / or provide recommendations for ongoing case management.
Management of Acute AND Chronic Upper Limb Injuries & Conditions
Hand therapy intervention includes thermoplastic splinting and fibreglass casting, oedema management, early wound care, scar management, mobilisation (active & passive) strengthening, desensitisation and graded functional return. to work. Conditions suitable for Hand Therapy include fractures and dislocations, laceration, nerve or tendon injuries, overuse conditions, joint replacements, amputations and replants, and pain syndromes.
Integrated Return-To-Work Services
The EKCO Hand Team work closely with insurers / case managers, employers and rehabilitation providers in arranging and facilitating a smooth transition back to employment.
The team also offers specialist knowledge and expertise in retraining the injured worker where return to pre-injury employment is not safe or sustainable.
